I am also the founder of Dite & Patra.
Dite & Patra is a bookish lifestyle destination for readers drawn to stories filled with romance, adventure, magic, and ideas.
What makes Dite & Patra special? It is the pleasure of wandering through a bookshop with nowhere else to be. A quiet morning with coffee and a few more chapters. A table set for a book club gathering. A cozy blanket and a novel chosen for the particular feeling of a rainy afternoon. Your prettiest teacup and a vase of fresh flowers along with a new story. The thrill of discovering a story that sends you searching for another. It is how we approach the experience of reading.
We believe in romanticizing our reading life, making space for the small rituals that surround a good story. We also believe in luxuriating in it, taking our time, savoring the atmosphere, and allowing the experience of reading to gently spill into the rest of life. These beliefs are at the heart of our identity and manifested in our two muses.
Our Muses
Dite (pronounced DYE-tee) is the romantic. She is drawn to enchantment, longing, beauty, wonder, and stories that feel luminous and poetic. Her books are lush, whimsical, emotional, and often touched by a little magic — the side of literature that invites us into dreamlike landscapes of imagination. She is also drawn to the beauty of the reading life. She romanticizes the details: flowers pressed between pages, beautiful editions, afternoons spent in cafés, stories shared with friends, and the particular magic of falling completely into a book.
Patra (pronounced PAH-truh) is the scholar. She is drawn to epic adventures, history, atmosphere, intellect, and stories with shadows beneath the surface. Her books are reflexive, contemplative, and layered — the side of literature that provokes thought, explores complexity, and where there is always something more to uncover. She also luxuriates in its atmosphere. Candlelit libraries and rain against old windows. A well-worn classic. The quiet pleasure of research and discovery. Bookshops with creaking floors, forgotten stories, and the feeling that there is always one more shelf to explore and all of the possibilities it may hold.
Together, they represent the belief that reading can be both an escape and an experience—something we carry beyond the page and into the way we move through the world.
Four Ways Into a Story
We come to books for different reasons. Sometimes we want to fall in love. Sometimes we want to disappear into another world, or we want to believe in the impossible. And other times, we simply want a story that leaves us seeing things differently.
At Dite & Patra, these four impulses shape the stories we seek.
Romance.
We read for feeling. For longing, connection, beauty, and the stories that remind us of what it means to care deeply.

We read to be transported. Across oceans, through history, into unfamiliar worlds, or simply toward the next unexpected discovery.

We read with curiosity. Drawn to history, literature, and ideas, we ponder the questions a good book leaves behind.
Our Philosophy
There is no single way to be well-read.
We read by mood and by season. We follow curiosity. We return to old favorites and abandon books that aren’t meant for us. We believe in slow reading, unexpected discoveries, and choosing stories not because we should read them, but because something about them calls to us.
Above all, we believe in making a little more room for wonder.

Our Mission
The names “Dite” and “Patra” are references to the Greek goddess Aphrodite and the Egyptian queen, Cleopatra.
Aphrodite was the goddess of love, passion, and beauty. Here at Dite & Patra we strive to add romance, magic, and luxury into the world through the stories that we read and products that we make. Cleopatra was an intelligent, resilient, and powerful ruler in a world where the odds were against her. We hope that our curated world can serve as a resource for inspiration and stories featuring growth, strength of character, and adventure, as we navigate life through the eyes of our favorite main characters and reflect on the wisdom from our favorite stories.
